I cannot bring you up to date with the numbers at this time. Because by the time you have read my short reaction to the rising popularity of Instagram the numbers will have gone up again. To take an example then. One report I picked up earlier this year (March 2018) suggested that Instagram had already achieved the milestone of over 800 million active users. This is an important statistic to be sharing with you at this time.
The modus operandi for achieving any form of success or reward when utilizing an interactive platform like Instagram is to be active. Not idle. Active. You have to be doing something of note on your platform at different stages of your work day. Much later in the year, as late as last week (October at the time of composing this post) I came across the astounding news that Instagram had breached the one billion mark.
Out of an adult population, say, half a billion in number, one billion of them are using Instagram! Incredible! All the more remarkable since Instagram, at the time of publishing this post, is not even six years of age. Facebook, the brainchild of one Mark Zuckerberg, could be considered to be of retirement age in comparison. And to think that after only a handful of years in existence, the Instagram enterprise was bought by Zuckerberg Inc.
One of the greatest entrepreneurs of our age must have seen some value in this company. Certainly, Instagram followers buy into this enterprise, each and every day of their lives. Over a billion of them. And let’s not forget that of these followers, there are those who continue to be loyal to the granddaddy of social media, YouTube. I continue to use this ‘old’ platform strategically. Apart from the personal reasons for doing so, both aesthetic and esthetic, I am able to connect with YouTube subscribers from my Instagram platform.
The same goes for my Facebook account. Every shred of activity that occurs on my Instagram platform is mirrored on the other two platforms. This means greater exposure and visibility for me at the end of the day. I have a growing business concern, so this exposure is important to me. Although, it must be said that a majority of viewers are accessing my material from their own Instagram accounts.
Well, we have just about run out of time. Hope you have enjoyed the visit. No ranting or raving. No pulpit preaching, just a little lyrical waxing over the brilliance of the Insta platform. Just before I go then, do make a point of taking advantage of this platform to keep yourself up to date with what consumers are asking for and talking about. Be clever and resourceful in the way you use your hashtags. Be clear and concise in your written communications, not forgetting to check and edit before you post. Also, remind yourself to refresh your bio page every now and then.
